Introducing: Lieutenant Colonel Patrick McGrail

Colonel McGrail currently serves as Battalion Commander for the 1st of the 200th Infantry Battalion of the New Mexico Army National Guard, in las cruses, NM. His leadership career spans more than three decades - in both military and civilian life.

He shares his journey, through two deployments to the middle east, readjusting to civilian life, making some profound personal amendments along the way.

Colonel McGrail’s military achievements include two Army achievement medals, four Army commendation medals, the Joint Service Achievement medal, two Meritorious Service medals, and the Bronze Star.

On the civilian side of life, he is Senior Vice President of Operations for NewsBank, Inc, and the founder of Leitrim Leadership Advisors.

“I think what employers know about National Guard members is that through that service we develop skills and leadership capabilities that make us immensely valuable to the organization. It’s understood that in order for me to be affective in both my civilian career and in my national guard career I have to prepare my organization to be able to operate when I am pulled away. In that respect, my service actually prepared my staff and my organization to be more ready for the pandemic. You’re forced to develop those skills and leadership capacity within your organization because you know in the organization has to be prepared to function in your absence.”   ~ LTC Patrick McGrail
